Setting
The Caravelle peninsula is a rocky spur classified as a nature reserve, exposed to the Atlantic but with the bay of Tartane kept sheltered. Tartane, a fishing village, is its heart : surf in the morning, market at La Trinité, fish for lunch.

Bourg Beach At the heart of the village. Golden sand, calm water, family-friendly.
Anse l'Étang Golden sand, quiet vibe. Bars and restaurants on site, including the Cocoa Beach Café.
Surfers' Beach Consistent waves, great exposure. Schools and rentals on site.
Caravelle Lighthouse 360° view over the Atlantic, Tartane and inland to Mont Pelée. Go late afternoon, back before dark.
Caravelle trail (8 km loop) A loop through the nature reserve. Cliffs, mangrove, dramatic Atlantic panoramas.
Baie du Trésor A mangrove cove at the heart of the reserve, from the Château Dubuc car park. Calm swimming and snorkelling, daytime only.
Fruit, spices, infused rums, local vegetables. Saturday morning for the atmosphere.
Catamaran or motorboat over the white sandbanks of the Le Robert islets, snorkelling. Joséphine's Bathtub departs from Le François.

The Saint-James distillery, in Sainte-Marie, is about twenty minutes away; the island’s other rum estates take a little longer.

Late-afternoon climb to the lighthouse, a 30-minute walk. 360° view, back down before dark.
